City of Alhambra No. 1st Street Parking

The parking structure consists of a two-bay long span design. This column-free interior design has allowed for striping flexibility. The parking structure has 307 stalls with a double helix ramping system at 5% maximum and two-way circulation for comfort use. It utilizes 90 degree parking at 8’-6” x 18’-0” with 25’-0” drive aisles, and all handicap-accessible stalls are located on the ground level on the south side adjacent to the elevator/ stair core for easy access. Vehicular restraints are in the form of concrete spandrels at perimeter locations and barrier cables at the interior ramp split location. Pedestrian vertical circulation is per via an elevator and two stairways situated on the southeast and southwest locations, with vehicular access located at the northeast and northwest corners of the parking structure.

Cost control and construction schedule maintenance
go hand in hand. Close coordination of the trades and sequencing were key to keeping the project on schedule and within cost constraints. We updated the construction schedule weekly with a “three week look-ahead” to make sure all personnel and subcontractors were on track. This prevented delays and the unnecessary costs that result.
